Overview-Mission
Our mission with our dog-friendly retreats, is to focus on the incredible relationship you share with your dog and provide opportunities for you to deepen your connection, adventure together, travel with your dog, learn new skills and get to know others who enjoy the same. For 2026, we are offering 3 different Day Retreats to share with your dog. For this year’s retreats, we are welcoming 6-8 people per retreat, creating a truly unique & personalized experience. Our wellness retreats are designed to support you and your dog to create a transformative experience for you both.
Retreat Activities
Our day retreats will be filled with fun but also activities to relax and restore for you and your dog. We include a variety of activities from dog yoga, meditation, training, group hiking, paddling and group swim time to campfires, community meals, wellness and dog themed crafts, seminars with experts including, canine massage, canine conditioning and dog behavior. There’s so much we plan to do together during a retreat experience.
About The Location
TAO DOG® Retreat Center, is located in the beautiful, scenic town of Simsbury CT. The area is known for its many hiking trails, the slow, flowing portion of the Farmington River, local farms with fresh produce and the historic Drake Hill Flower Bridge. A destination for those looking to spend a day connected to nature. Our center is located directly on the river, for swimming & paddling adventures, a large fenced space for dogs to stretch their legs or play after making new friends, outdoor space to relax on the deck, a large outdoor space for dog yoga and dog training and a cozy, indoor space for quieter, relaxation activities.

Community Meals & Food
Our focus for meals & food is around providing a variety of nutritious options and sharing this time as a community. We will be active in both our bodies and minds during our retreats and we want you to nourish yourself. For Day Retreats we will offer lunch and dinner. Meals included are for humans only, upon registration we will ask you about any dietary restrictions and allergies.
What you need to know?
Participants must be 21 years or older. Dogs must be social/neutral with other dogs and people. For our retreats, dogs will be on a 6 ft leash or long line. We ask that each person accompany one dog. If you have multiple dogs you would like to bring, please reach out individually to inquire about options. This is a rain or shine event, we have indoor space we can use and will adjust the schedule accordingly in case of rain. As we are focusing on wellness, ALL of our offerings including retreats are alcohol/substance free events. To register, please select “Retreat Application” below, Stef will then reach out to you to learn more about you and your dog. The next step is to finalize your registration and submit payment to secure your spot.
Want to make your day retreat into a weekend?
We love that you’d like to share more time away with your dog! Many day retreat attendees have stayed locally the night before and after our day retreats. Part of our registration process is a call with you to learn more about you and your dog, this is a great opportunity to ask us about local places to stay. There are many options from dog-friendly hotels, home rentals and camping.
Registration Day Retreats (each person/dog) (All Inclusive 1 Day Experience, includes lunch & dinner, all activities).

Payment Options: Pay in Full at time of Registration or Pay 1/2 at Registration to secure your spot and 1/2 by 2 months prior to event date.
Payment methods accepted: Check, Cash or Venmo. Address to send checks is provided upon completed registration.
Cancellation Policy
While we want everyone who registers to attend, we understand life happens. Our cancellation policy is as follows:
2 or more months in advance from Day Retreat date - all money is refunded.
1-2 months in advance from Day Retreat date - 50% total refunded.
Less than 1 month in advance from Day Retreat date - 50% total refunded ONLY IF we can fill your spot.
Money refunded does not include sales tax.
